Industrial Product Glossary

Term Customer-facing meaning
Access Policy A managed statement of who may perform which industrial activity, on which equipment, under which conditions, and with what outcome
Allow Permit an operation that satisfies approved policy
Block Stop an operation that violates an approved inline policy
Equipment Definition Reusable model of an industrial asset, its points, operating meaning, and protection context
Equipment Safety Profile Reviewed limits, normal states, permitted commands, alarms, and prerequisites associated with an equipment point
Event Archive Queryable retention of detailed dissections, policy decisions, and related evidence
Industrial Event Normalization Translation of technical protocol details into equipment-aware operations, categories, severity, tags, and readable descriptions
L2Proxy Connect Identity-aware L2Proxy enforcement inside an authenticated access session
L2Proxy Dissector Native industrial protocol inspection component that exposes decoded fields and structures to the platform
Policy Profile Ordered, reviewed collection of policies deployed together on an enforcement path
Protected Access Domain Isolated and managed context containing the users, sessions, network assignment, connections, and policies required for one industrial purpose
Secure Overlay Authenticated encrypted transport used to carry an isolated access domain across existing infrastructure
Industrial Microsegmentation Fine-grained control of communication by domain, identity, session, equipment, operation, value, sequence, or process context
North-South Traffic Communication crossing an access, site, or industrial zone boundary
East-West Traffic Communication within or between internal industrial domains, systems, cells, sites, or sessions
Protocol Portfolio Customer documentation and validated content for one protocol, including operations, helpers, rules, stateful cases, examples, and qualification guidance
Record Retain an observation and its evidence without blocking the operation
Rule One explicit, ordered condition and its resulting action or state update
Rule Engine Component that evaluates decoded traffic, identity, equipment context, metadata, and state against managed rules
Service Profile Persistent operating configuration for one standalone L2Proxy instance
Standalone L2Proxy Service Independently operated L2Proxy enforcement or observation instance on a transparent, routed, isolated, passive, or offline path
Stateful Protection Policy that correlates multiple events using sequence, timing, identity, authorization, feedback, counters, or process prerequisites

Terms describe product concepts. Customer asset names, roles, operating limits, and authority remain governed by the customer's engineering and operating procedures.
